Devote yourselves to prayer, is what caught my eye this morning as I was reading my devotional, and the bible, the book of Colossians 4:2 says to "devote yourselves to prayer".
I immediately pause... Devote yourselves to prayer? I am so grateful for the gift of prayer as I am able to testify that works. I have seen time and time again my prayers been answered. However, I will leave the religious preachy aspect of it aside, and focus on the fact there are several studies done in which the power of prayer is associated with overall wellness feeling. It can improve a person's mental health, such as reducing anxiety and stress. In turn, this can translate into lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, lower blood pressure, and improved immune functioning.
In my own experience, prayer calms me down, what in return makes me sleep better. What brings me to the benefits of sleep.
The skin makes new collagen when we sleep, which prevents sagging. I have a glowing complexion when I am rested and calmer.
I noticed prayer makes me less self-centered. When I pray for others, for nations, for those around me, I am happier and less focused on my problems. When I pray for small things or big things, I acknowledge that there is a power greater than I, at work.
Why not pray for better skin, for the right products to come along, for wisdom to understand what our body and skin needs? Why not find an Esthetician that will not only treat your skin but also take the time to pray for you?
